New jobs in the IT industry

26 October 2004, Frankfurt - The European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F.), the leading European trade fair for finance IT, offers support for staff recruitment and job-hunting.

The German IT industry is growing – even in spite of the reports of offshoring heard in recent months. According to a jobs analysis by the recruiting and placement service provider Adecco, the IT jobs market is registering a marked recovery in comparison to the same period last year. The German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media [Bundesverband Informationswirtschaft, Telekommunikation und Neue Medien (BITKOM e.V.)] confirms the upwards trend, identifying the IT sector as the second-largest employing industry, after mechanical and electrical engineering.

This trend has also been confirmed by a recent survey carried out among the exhibitors at this year's E.B.I.F. by the online job board jobhunter.de. "The financial services sector is looking for people particularly in the areas of IT and administration, as well as customer service and sales," explains Hans-Joachim Weller, Managing Director of jobhunter.de. Most in demand are people changing jobs (45.8%), followed by graduates (21%), according to the results of the study.

The E.B.I.F. 2004 Job Exchange can be of assistance to recruiters and job-hunters alike. Exhibitors, other interested employers and applicants have the opportunity to publish their current job offerings and applications at www.ebif.com, the trade fair homepage. Interested parties can respond to the respective offerings, free of complicated pre-registration. Embedded in the trade fair’s online presentation, the job exchange offers applicants and companies an opportunity to introduce themselves exclusively to their desired target audience. Another benefit: during the trade fair, applicants can interview in person at the E.B.I.F. Job Exchange stand. There they have an opportunity to submit their application materials and gather comprehensive information about the companies. Recruiting experts will then pass the documents along to human resources staff at the appropriate companies. Upon request, the application materials can be optimised in advance by an expert consultant.

The E.B.I.F. Job Exchange is being organised by jobhunter.de in co-operation with the trade fair organiser, Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen. Visitors will find the Job Exchange in Hall 3, at stand 3.0C56.
