E.B.I.F. 2006 – The suspense is mounting
Trade visitors expect international range of solutions

Wiesbaden, 9 November 2006 – The final preparations are being made and the suspense is mounting. On 14 November, the European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F.) will open its doors at the Frankfurt trade fair grounds. For its three-day duration, decision-makers and users from the financial sector will have the opportunity to find out about the latest trends in financial technology.

Even weeks before the event, it was clear that the E.B.I.F. has a growing reputation among the international financial community. In the future, Information Technology will be a key weapon in every financial institution’s competitive armoury. This is the conclusion reached by 100 percent of IT purchasing managers in German banks surveyed as part of the E.B.I.F. purchasing barometer. This is a clear indication that the financial sector’s interest in new IT solutions will certainly increase in the future. At the E.B.I.F., representatives from banks and insurance companies will be able to find out at first hand about the latest developments in financial technology. The exhibitors at the trade fair offer a wide spectrum of solutions designed to meet the current challenges faced by the financial sector. From IT-based sales support to rating software and anti-money laundering systems – the latest tailored solutions will be presented at the E.B.I.F. The range of products and services on offer is become increasing international in nature. This year, there will be exhibitors from France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, England, Ireland, the USA and – for the very first time – India and Brazil too.

Thomas Schütz, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH, which is responsible for organising the E.B.I.F. together with the Maleki Group, comments: “The E.B.I.F. has succeeded in establishing itself as the world’s largest technology trade fair for banks and insurance companies. There is no comparable event anywhere in the world. The E.B.I.F. is the place to be when it comes to talking about the future of the financial sector. This can also be seen from the growing interest among exhibitors and visitors outside Europe.”

Exhibitors were also quick to acknowledge the positive trend towards a more international orientation. Peter Leichsenring, Head of Sales for Central and Southern Europe at New York-based GoldenSource Corporation, a first-time exhibitor at the E.B.I.F., is convinced: “As a globally active company, we benefit in particular from the international trade visitors at the E.B.I.F. We are very confident that we will make valuable contacts at the trade fair.”

Angelika Lange, Head of Marketing at Innovations Softwaretechnologie GmbH, is eager to participate in the trade fair again: “After our positive experience last year, we know that we can reach the core of our target group at the E.B.I.F. without wasting any resources. Because of this, we are using the trade fair once again as a platform to make contact with customers and other interested parties.”

The E.B.I.F. is Europe’s largest independent technology trade fair for the banking and insurance sector. This year, the E.B.I.F. will once again be taking place within the framework of Euro Finance Week, the high-powered industry gathering of the European finance and insurance sectors in one of Europe’s most important financial centres. The conferences will feature high-profile speakers such as Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank, Charlie McCreevy, member of the European Commission and German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. With over 300 speakers and 10,000 visitors from over 60 countries, Euro Finance Week is one of the largest events of its kind. An additional attraction for exhibitors and visitors alike is the Sparkassen Informatik IT forum 2006, which is held at the same time and in the immediate vicinity of the E.B.I.F.
