E.B.I.F. 2006 – The doors are open
Europe’s technology trade fair for banks and insurance companies has finally begun
Wiesbaden, 14 November 2006 – In the financial sectors of Europe, all eyes are on Frankfurt, as today is the first day of the European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F.).
The symbolic red ribbon was cut by Dr. Petra Roth (the mayor of Frankfurt), Dr. Walter Arnold (from the Hessian Ministry of Finance), Dr. Nader Maleki (CEO of the Maleki Group) and Dr. Michael Peters (Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt). For three whole days, users and decision-makers from banks and insurance companies will be able to find out about the latest trends in the financial technology sector.
What form will the banking and insurance landscape take in the future? Visitors to the E.B.I.F. over the next few days will find more than just one answer to this question. The trends of the future will be defined at Europe’s technology trade fair for banks and insurance companies. This year’s E.B.I.F. 2006 will focus strongly on the rising regulative requirements from Brussels. SEPA, MiFID and other change drivers all present financial service providers with challenges that can only be overcome with the aid of modern information technology. Further topics of interest at the E.B.I.F. include IT security, IT-supported sales and automation of corporate processes. This year, Europe’s technology trade fair for banks and insurance companies is becoming increasingly international. In addition to the large number of exhibitors from Europe and further afield, the trade fair organisers also expect to see a rise in the number of international trade visitors. For the very first time, exhibitors from India and Brazil will also be represented at the E.B.I.F. this year.
In her speech at the opening ceremony, Frankfurt’s mayor Dr. Petra Roth declared: “It fills me with great pride to be able to open the E.B.I.F. once again this year. Particularly given the standing of Frankfurt as an international banking centre, it is extremely important to have such a forward-looking trade fair as the E.B.I.F. here. Accordingly, I am especially delighted at the level of international interest from visitors and exhibitors alike.”
Thomas Schütz, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH, which is responsible for organising the E.B.I.F. together with the Maleki Group, is confident that the event will be a resounding success: “The E.B.I.F. addresses all the current issues in the financial sector. Here, decision-makers from banks and insurance companies can find out about all relevant new developments in financial technology. We expect interest to continue growing in the future, given that IT will play an even greater role in the banking and insurance sectors.”
The E.B.I.F. is Europe’s largest independent technology trade fair for the banking and insurance sector. This year, the E.B.I.F. will once again be taking place within the framework of Euro Finance Week, the high-powered industry gathering of the European finance and insurance sectors in one of Europe’s most important financial centres. The conferences will feature high-profile speakers such as German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet and member of the European Commission Charlie McCreevy. With over 300 speakers and 10,000 visitors from more than 60 countries, Euro Finance Week is one of the largest events of its kind. An additional attraction for exhibitors and visitors alike is the Sparkassen Informatik IT forum 2006, which is held at the same time and in the immediate vicinity of the E.B.I.F.
