Tue 18 - Thu 20 November 2008 - Frankfurt am Main, Exhibition Grounds, Hall 5.1

E.B.I.F. 2006 draws to a close
Trend towards increased internationalisation confirmed

Frankfurt, 16 November 2006 – this year’s European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F.) was a resounding success for exhibitors, visitors and organisers. For its three-day duration, decision-makers and users from the financial sector had the opportunity to find out at first hand about the latest financial technology solutions.

Euro Finance Week will continue until the end of the week. The E.B.I.F., which closes its doors at 17:00 today, facilitated even more direct contact with decision-makers from the financial sector. 20 percent of exhibitors came from outside Germany, a trend that was also evident among trade visitors.

In a snap survey conducted by the E.B.I.F. organisers, the vast majority of this year’s exhibitors readily confirmed their intention to return next year. Survey participants praised the high relevance of E.B.I.F. topics to their companies’ own product portfolio. From the exhibitors’ perspective, the key argument for taking part in the trade fair again is the targeted and efficient use of their resources, since visitors consisted primarily of decision-makers from the banking and insurance sector. Frankfurt was identified as the most important financial centre in Germany, particularly among international IT experts.

Even before the E.B.I.F. began, the trend towards greater internationalisation was already apparent. This year saw a Brazilian delegation at the trade fair for the very first time. José Antonio Antonioni, Coordinator of Brazilian IT associations Softex and Softsul, sums it up neatly: “The E.B.I.F. is the best place in Europe for international IT companies to come into direct contact with potential partners and customers. We were particularly impressed by the main topics covered by the trade fair. Here, quality clearly takes priority over quantity.” This year, two Brazilian companies are represented at the trade fair: eccox Software S/A and Intellectual Capital Ltda. For the E.B.I.F. 2007, Mr. Antonioni would like to extend the Brazilian stand to 10 companies.

Thomas Schütz, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH, which is responsible for organising the E.B.I.F. together with the Maleki Group, is very happy with the outcome of the trade fair: “The trade fair was a great success once again. This year’s E.B.I.F. confirmed all expectations: a more international public and direct interaction with quality trade visitors. The mood in the sector is positive. From decision-makers in the banking and insurance sector, we know that companies will be even more willing to invest in IT solutions in the future.”

This year, the E.B.I.F. once again proved itself to be Europe’s largest independent technology trade fair for the banking and insurance sector. As before, it took place within the framework of Euro Finance Week, the high-powered industry gathering of the European finance and insurance sectors in one of Europe’s most important financial centres. With over 450 speakers and 11,000 visitors from more than 60 countries, Euro Finance Week is one of the largest events of its kind. An additional attraction for exhibitors and visitors alike was the Sparkassen Informatik IT forum 2006, which was held at the same time and in the immediate vicinity of the E.B.I.F.
