E.B.I.F. 2007: The countdown has begun - Business Solutions Forum awaited with great interest
Frankfurt, 12 November 2007 – In eight days, the European Banking & Insurance Fair (E.B.I.F.) will open its doors at the Frankfurt trade fair grounds. From 20 to 22 November, decision-makers and users from the financial sector will once again have the opportunity to find out about the latest IT trends in their sector. At the centre of this year’s E.B.I.F. – both in terms of content and location – is the Business Solutions Forum, which will be held for the very first time. Here, renowned IT service providers will present concrete best practice solutions to the latest IT questions in the financial sector together with their customers from banks and insurance companies. All slots for the Business Solutions Forum were sold out in the space of a few days.
Among the companies who will be presenting their IT products at the Business Solutions Forum are IBM, Hewlett Packard and ACI Worldwide. For instance, Hewlett Packard will be showcasing the Business Intelligence solution it developed for Rabobank. Similarly, sd&m AG will be presenting the solution it implemented at Schufa Holding AG, entitled: “Application Landscape, Enterprise Architecture: Interlocking Worlds”. As well as presenting a number of best practice examples, exhibitors will showcase their own IT solutions at demonstration points.
Thomas Schütz, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH and organiser of the E.B.I.F: “We expect interest in the financial sector to continue to grow. Our E.B.I.F. purchasing barometer, a survey of IT purchasing managers at major German banks, has indicated that banks in particular are willing to invest in IT again. Another key issue this year will certainly be MiFID, the new EU directive on financial services, which has just come into effect. The financial sector still has a great need for information, and this need will be met by our exhibitors.”
At the E.B.I.F., representatives from banks and insurance companies will be able to find out first hand about the latest developments and trends in financial technology. The many international exhibitors at the trade fair offer a wide spectrum of solutions designed to meet the current challenges faced by the financial sector. From IT-based sales support to rating software or anti-money laundering systems – the latest tailored solutions will be presented at the E.B.I.F.
Armin Holst, Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe of Temenos Group AG and Managing Director of ACTIS.BSP Germany GmbH, spoke about his company’s participation in the trade fair: “With over 590 financial institutions in 110 countries, Temenos Group AG is among the world’s leading providers of integrated end-to-end bank solutions. However, at the E.B.I.F, we will not just be presenting our global orientation, but will also be demonstrating our strategic commitment on the German market. Having successfully acquired ACTIS.BSP in March of this year, we are now looking forward to presenting the German model bank version of our universal bank software TEMENOS T24 to trade visitors at this year’s E.B.I.F.”
Last year, over 200 exhibitors presented their solutions at the E.B.I.F.. With approximately 7,000 visitors from over 30 countries, the Frankfurt-based event is Europe’s largest independent technology trade fair for the banking and insurance sector. This year, the E.B.I.F. will once again be taking place within the framework of the Euro Finance Week, the high-powered industry gathering of the European finance and insurance sectors in one of Europe’s most important financial centres.
